It was a semi last minute decision... Stacy and I decided to run the 10K this year "for fun." I was thinking I could average about a 9-minute pace, but I came to terms with my fluffiness and my wee bit of out-of-shapeness when I hit about the 5K mark.
Splits: 9:39, 8:51, 8:59, 9:28, 9:21, 9:52, 2:46 (9:04 pace on the 0.3)
Total Time: 58:59 (9:21 average for 6.3 miles)
Age Group: 60/109
Gender: 247/508
Overall: 674/1097
We didn't realize just how many people did the 10K. It was super congested at the beginning and remained fairly congested throughout the race. We started in the middle or back, so we did a lot of runner dodging the first few miles. I wanted to push it, but I think sub-9 pace was a little too fast for me. Those hills took me by surprise! It was a good challenge (especially before stuffing my face), and it was fun to see a lot of friends out there on the course.
