Thursday Thirteen: Valentine's Day Reflections

1. Cliff surprised me with flowers when he returned home from Ardmore.

2. Cliff wore the sweater I bought him for dinner. *Patting myself on the back for a good clothing purchase*

3. We had some good (and fairly inexpensive) wine before dinner… Ravenswood Cab and an Estancia Zin.

4. Apparently the restaurants were a lot crazier on Saturday night.

5. A house of glass cabernet at Silver Fox is $11. Seriously? But then we discovered the “House
Red,” which was “only” $8. At least we had enough willpower to each order 2 glasses and not order a bottle.

6. Dinner was greatness. We each ordered the 12-ounce filet and it came with the III Forks salad (apples, blue cheese, and walnuts) and dessert.

7. Some Silver Fox improvements: apparently they make their own bread now (MUCH tastier) and the chocolate cake is no longer from a box (or so I’m told)

8. We boxed up about 1/3 of the filets and the desserts. The chocolate cake and cheesecake were a nice treat a few hours after dinner.

9. I also got a rose at the restaurant. I rubbed some raw meat on the stem to entice Gus into taking a cute picture. He was more interested in eating the rose and licking the meat off the stem.

10. The filets were an even better treat for brunch. I also whipped up some eggs with jalapenos and onions, turkey sausage, and fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple).

11. We downed PITCHERS of mimosas. I felt ohhhh so good until I felt like death a few hours later and needed a 2-hour nap.

12. A federal holiday the day after Valentine’s Day? Yes, please!

13. I cooked one of our favorite recipes, my mom’s (reduced fat) sausage casserole, on Monday night. Mmm, mmm good!
