I started working out again on Friday, February 12, when I made the one-year commitment to 24 Hour Fitness. So far, it has proven to be a good investment. My abdominal pain has pretty much subsided. I went to the gastroenterologist on Wednesday, February 17 and now I’m on Nexium and I seem to be feeling better. I have a follow-up appointment in two weeks. So maybe it was some sort of gastritis. I am trying to watch what I eat and drink, but usually I fall off the wagon about two nights a week.
Here is a recap of the last week or two. Notice the lack of running. Hmmm. I made the decision not to run the 50K on Saturday. I haven’t run in 3 weeks, and I’m a little worried about pushing my body that hard when I’m still not 100% sure what is wrong. Also, it’s Cliff’s birthday weekend and we’ll be celebrating with his kids. So my timing wasn’t very swell to begin with. Those are my excuses. I am a little bummed, because I had trained pretty well (I did the White Rock Marathon in December as a training run and I had done my weekend long runs, up to 18 miles) and I have never run an “ultra” before. But there is plenty of time to accomplish those goals, and I need to be smart and put my health first. My short-term goal is to enjoy the variety of my workouts, stay consistent, and work on losing the post-wedding weight.
