The Fight for UC Davis

Wow, this article really hit home. It's difficult to hear about swimming programs like Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine getting cut, but I felt a bit removed from them. My mom and I visited the UC Davis campus the summer before my senior year in high school, and I absolutely loved it. The campus was beautiful, a lot of the students commuted by bike, the nutrition program was excellent, and the swim coach was incredibly friendly (and the article mentions how she has volunteered to give up her salary for 2 years to save the program). I actually ended up applying to UC Davis (instead of UC Berkeley) and UCLA. I really wanted to swim at a Division I school though, so UC Davis was not one of my final top 5 choices. I did look at the school again when I realized I wasn't going to swim at TCU after my sophomore year, but I ended up quitting swimming and staying in Fort Worth. Hopefully UC Davis can rally enough support to keep the swim program... one more reason why pot should be legal... so California can dig itself out of this huge budget crisis with some amazing sales tax revenue.

I agree, they should legalize pot and then they could lower my taxes and pay off some debt. I would probably pay some of that tax though!
