A Federal Holiday Thirteen

1. Hooray for the day off. 10 hours of sleep is just what I needed. I was going to try to stay up a little late last night, but I started falling asleep on the couch before 9. I'm a big baby.

2. And also a BIG thank you to the men and women serving our country and to our veterans!

3. I had a little case of the "ohhhh I can make those runs up" last week, which resulted in four consecutive days (Friday-Monday) of running.

4. Now the right big toe is a little sore, and that's the sign that my foot is a bit jacked up.

5. I rested on Tuesday and did a gym workout (no running) yesterday. Now I have to decide if and when to do my tempo run and long (20-mile) run this week before taper.

6. I haven't had an alcoholic beverage or a dessert (excluding my 15-calorie popsicles) since Halloween. Willpower!

7. I almost kissed the scale this morning when she read 151.0.

8. I think 145 for the marathon is definitely within reach. My "ideal body weight." That sounds so warm and fuzzy.

9. My friend (Diane) and her baby (Andrew) are staying over tomorrow night. I'm excited to catch up with Diane (she lives in Houston now) and the dogs are excited for a little human playmate.

10. The Elton John concert is this Saturday night at 8 pm! Woohoo! I am going to be the DD, which will also help me say "no" to the sauce (especially the margarita pitchers at Joe T's!).

11. The Fort Worth Marathon and 20-miler are on Sunday morning. I am a wee bit tempted to do my 20-miler then since it's an organized race (and it will give my footsie a few days to heal). Saturday is going to be a late night though. Decisions, decisions!

12. It looks like we're keeping the Bassets!.... for now ;)

13. And while I'm typing this, GusGus and Lucy are biting each other to determine dominance.
