So I went back-and-forth on how many miles I would do today. Ideally I would have liked a 30-miler, for both the confidence and the practice of staying on my feet for hours (and hours). But I've also been nursing an aggravated hip flexor (which allows me to put a bag of frozen peas down my pants, but I digress), and I wanted to play it smart. I was waivering on 20-30 miles, and I went with 24 miles. This way Dan and I could run 12 miles and then pick up Stacy for 12 more miles. Nice and pretty and symmetrical ;) So Dan and I set off at about 6:20 this morning and went a nice, easy pace. Dan was shooting for 30+ miles, but he didn't really sleep last night (bad combo). We left from Hoffbrau and headed out to 183, around the freeway (with a residential detour for an extra 2 miles), and back to Hoffbrau. We picked up the pace a bit around mile 7 or 8.
Splits: 11:00, 11:21, 11:31, 11:11, 11:08, 11:20, 11:37, 10:42, 10:29, 10:49, 10:35, 10:22
Nom Nom Nom: Gu at mile 5, 3 Cliff blocks (half a package at mile 10)
I had a fantastic Panera Potty Stop (what would we do with the convenient Panera location), Dan called it a day, and Stacy and I headed out (in the other direction) on the Trinity Trail after I gobbled down three more Cliff blocks and refilled my water. I felt pretty good. The mileage flew by pretty quickly since we talked for most of the run. I like how our last mile was sub-10. That definitely shows I have more in tank to speed up the run and/or run farther.
Splits: 10:12, 10:14, 10:29, 10:26, 10:21, 10:30, 10:07, 10:10, 10:06, 10:13, 10:11, 9:51
Nom Nom Nom: Gu at mile 17
Totals: 24.05 miles, 4:15:36, 10:37/mile
After the run we treated ourselves to some hazelnut coffee at Panera and then headed over to Zoe's for the veggie pita pizza. It was a good end to a chilly, misty morning full o' mileage!
