Thursday Thirteen

13. It's an "Arctic blast" and we don't have a late start at the gov. What. The. Heck. Fortunately I carpooled with Cliff and he is much better at driving on the ice (while I sit in the passenger seat and play on my iPhone).

12. If you're watching The Biggest Loser (or if you're not), you need to cheer for Daris. He is my stepdaughter's (still sounds weird to say that) good friend, and Cliff knows him as well. And he's representin' Ardmore ;)

11. I've been on a great workout kick since Saturday. My 20-day yoga pass expires on Sunday, so I need to figure out if I want to join 24 Hour Fitness, start swimming again, do more yoga... so many decisions. My focus right now needs to be on running, but that's harder to do when the temps are in the teens, there's ice on the roads, and the darn Club Fed treadmill registers roughly 0.7 mph slower than it should! It's nice to have a cross training back-up plan!

10. I'm still trying to work on Operation Fulfillment (new title). What I mean by that is I like to do things outside of regular job to feel a bit more satisfied with life. The original plan was to try teaching a college class. I have 15 hours of graduate accounting and I need 18 hours (so just one more class) to be eligible to teach. I am signed up for some sort of accounting statistical design class for the spring semester of UTA, but I am enjoying the holiday break and dreading going back to school.

9. So my other idea... study for the CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) test. I could do this on my own time, it would make me a little more marketable, and the cost is slightly less than a class at UTA. Also, I am trying to recruit Cliff to be my study buddy (since we are both nerdy accountants). Hmmmm.....???

8. We get off an hour early today (woohoo) so I have two hours at Club Fed before Cliff is done with work at 4:00. Weights and cardio for me!

7. I got three scarves for Christmas, and I have never worn a scarf before. So I busted out the purple scarf today (since it was 25 but "felt like 11 degrees," according to weather dot com), and I am feeling mighty trendy (even though my friend has to show me how to loop it and look like less of a dork).

6. Season 3 of Big Love is finally out on DVD. Hooray for the sister wives! Now we just have to get through the "long wait" on Netflix.

5. In the meantime, we are watching "The Unit" (Season 4) and "The Mentalist" (Season 1). There definitely isn't a shortage of crime shows on TV.

4. Baker Brothers for lunch today... nom nom nom. Nicole + Taos Salad + Salsa = Love.

3. I'm still in mourning over the TCU game. It was frustrating to watch, because they were capable of so much more. Those players had such a great season though, and I am quite proud to wear my purple!

2. The current iPhone app addiction: Papi Jump. And what stinks about it: Cliff is way better than me.

1. Some of my friends and I are doing a one-week cleanse starting on Monday. The plan:

All fruits and veggies except corn and brown potatoes (sweet potatoes are okay)
Edamame
Brown rice (not instant), quinoa, amaranth, millet, and buckwheat
Split yellow and green peas
Lentils
Pinto beans, mung beans, garbanzo beans (chickpeas) and adzuki beans (I would assume cooked – not canned?)
Raw and unsalted nuts or seeds (flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews and walnuts)
Nut butters (but no peanut butter) – example: almond butter
Herbs and spices (no added salt though)
Non-caffeinated herbal or green tea
Water, lemon water, pure unsweetened fruit and vegetable juices

NOOOOOOO:Meat (includes eggs)
Dairy
Sugar
Wheat
Processed Junk
Regular or Diet soda
Alcohol
Caffeine
Brown Potatoes
Corn
Added salt
Peanut butter
