T-T-T-TAPER TIME! I've been enjoying the rest, and I know I made the right decision to postpone my trip to Tulsa. I'm finally starting to feel better (less congested), and the antibiotics seem to be kicking in. I'm glad I got this over with before the marathon. Everything is lining up well...
1) I'm down to 146.5 pounds. Holy. Friggin. Cow. My "ideal body weight" is 145 (since I'm a 5'9" female... it's 100 pounds + 5 pounds for every inch over 5 feet), and I haven't been this skinny in over a decade. I was around 158 pounds for the 2007 Las Vegas Marathon (4:16 PR), so I am ready to rock this. I might have to buy a new wardrobe though (and maybe thank the Bassets for the tapeworm they gave me?).
2) I'm finally getting healthy. I plan on getting lots of sleep this week and resting up and paying close attention to my nutrition and hydration.
3) The weather forecast looks purrrrrfect. High 59, Low 37, 0% chance of rain. Mostly sunny. Marathon weather can't get much better.
4) I am so confident in the training I put in, and I really think a sub-4 is within reach (although I had a dream last night that I went a 4:04).
The training plan this week called for an easy 3-mile run on Monday, a 5-mile tempo run on Wednesday (with the middle 3 miles at 8:23), and an 8-mile run on Saturday. I actually adhered to the correct days for each run. I know it's important to rest my legs between runs during my taper.
Run #1 (Monday evening): 3.10 miles @ 9:34 (29:38); Lake Country; Easy 5K around the neighborhood. I wanted to get it done and then focus on resting and getting healthy.
Run #2 (Wednesday evening): 5 miles inc 3 miles @ 8:09, 8:20, 8:18 (43:25); Lake Country; I didn't have to try as hard as I thought I would, and I even backed off after the first mile.
Run #3 (Saturday morning): 8 miles @ 9:37 (1:16:55); Lake Country; I started off feeling relaxed and easy, but those last few miles were tougher (and slower).
Total Mileage Planned: 16; Actual Mileage: 16.10
Other Workouts:
Walked Dogs 4.27 miles
Elliptical 25 min
Weights and abs 25 min
