Week 13: The Last Big One!

This week’s training plan called for an easy 5-mile run, a 5-mile mile tempo run (with 3 miles at 8:23/mile), and a 20-mile run. I actually stuck to the plan (gasp). I was so happy with the tempo run and long run that I blogged about each one separately. Now I have 3 weeks until Vegas, and I’m excited to rest up!

Run #1 (Monday afternoon): 5.06 miles @ 9:50 (49:46); Downtown/Trinity Trail; Easy run with Kit

Run #2 (Thursday afternoon): Tempo: 5 miles, inc 3 miles @ 7:39, 7:57, 8:16 (42:35); Lake Country; Wow. I was bummed because I thought I was running close to 9-minute miles instead of 8-minute miles, and I didn’t figure out the math until my warm-down mile. Excited for Vegas!

Run #3 (Saturday afternoon): 3.13 miles @ 9:15 (28:56); Lake Country; Easy run to loosen up before Sunday’s big 20.

Run #4 (Sunday morning): 20.09 miles @ 9:20 (3:07:49); Fort Worth Marathon (Trinity Trail); Negative split (1:34:24/1:32:42) and maintained a steady, consistent effort.

Planned Mileage: 30, Actual Mileage: 33.28
