Week 12: (Semi) Recovery Week

First off, I'm kicking some bootie on the weight loss. I should definitely be under wedding weight for the marathon (and out of the Athena category). I gave up alcohol and desserts (well, I'm treating myself to two of those 15-calorie Crystal Light popsicles after dinner). My first test was family dinner night, and my second (and more difficult) test was watching the TCU football game (GO FROGS!). It's sad that 5 weeks without alcohol and dessert is a big deal, but that's the world I live in (and usually it's a fun world full of red beer and Smart Ones frozen treats).

This was a recovery week, which came at a perfect time. I was exhausted, and I went to bed at 7:00 or 7:30 on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I had a lot of Combined Federal Campaign responsibilities with the breakfast trolley and our gift basket silent auction. So all three of my runs were pushed back to the end of the week, which probably negated some of the "recovery" effect. The training plan called for two 8-milers and a 7-miler.

Run #1 (Friday afternoon): 7.16 miles @ 9:15 (1:05:54); This was my first run since Sunday's 16-miler, and I just took it one mile at a time. I was happy with a 9:12 average since I was running without much effort.

Run #2 (Saturday morning): 9 miles @ 9:54 (1:29:09); This was my first run in the COLD (38 degree) temps this season, and it took awhile to get going (10:35, 10:10, 10:07), but we finished it up strong (9:32, 9:29).

Run #3 (Sunday afternoon): 8 miles @ 9:24 (1:15:10); I was dreading this run after cleaning all morning, but I felt better about life once I got out there. My right foot is a little sore from three runs in a row. Plus I started the run with a steep hill (Golf Club).

Total Weekly Mileage: 24.16 miles

Other Workouts:
Stationary Bike 50 min
Elliptical Machine 30 min
Weights and abs 23:30
Walked Gus 1.5 miles

Other Random Note:
I'm at 876 (running) miles for the year. I think this will be my first year to hit the momumental 1,000!
